The current proposed unemployment cuts are harmful to workers who have lost their jobs suddenly and unexpectedly and put an economic burden on Iowa’s working families. Iowans are hard working individuals who want to work and want to make sure that they are able to secure employment that matches their skill set and their economic responsibilities.
Having a one week waiting period before individuals are able to receive unemployment, shortening the time that workers are able to look for job that matches their skills and forcing workers to accept jobs that pay less than their previous position is not helping to solve a workforce crisis, it creates a situation where people will be working in jobs they are ill suited or untrained for and will reduce families abilities to cover their economic responsibilities.
We urge you to VOTE NO on the current proposed cuts to unemployment.
