Support Grand Valley Transit Workers

While professional bus operators at Grand Valley Transit struggle to pay bills on just an $11.25 an hour, making them among the lowest paid transit workers in America, a $7.5 billion French government-owned contractor called Transdev is squeezing out a profit to send back to Paris.
Transdev is hired to manage transit operations in Grand Valley by a public authority called the Grand Valley Regional Transportation Committee (GVRTC). GVRTC is made up of elected officials from Mesa County, Fruita, Grand Junction, and Palisade. Instead of taking responsibility for a contractor that is making a profit by impoverishing transit workers, many local elected officials have decided to look the other way. That’s left bus operators, members of Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1776, no choice but to authorize a strike.
While a strike date hasn’t been set, the Colorado AFL-CIO is prepared to stand in solidarity with our sisters and brothers on the Western Slope.
Join us as we demand that Transdev and GVRTC settle a fair contract that pays bus operators at living wage.

[Your Name]
Dear GVRTC Board Member,
I'm writing to let you know that I support Grand Valley Transit’s hardworking bus drivers who keep the Western Slope moving.
Instead of using taxpayers dollars to subsidize a multinational private contractor, you should pay your workers a living wage and focus on reaching a fair and just agreement with members of ATU Local 1776.
Whatever your decision, I’m ready to stand in solidarity with union members and tax payers until a fair deal is reached.
