RE: 34rd Annual Labor Day Festival

On behalf of the Marquette Alger Community Labor Council, AFL-CIO and the U.P. Regional Labor
Federation, AFL-CIO, we are pleased to invite you and your organization to participate in the 34rd Annual
Labor Day Festival! The event will be held in Negaunee on Labor Day, Monday, September 4th, 2023.
The Festival will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a parade along Tobin Street, Iron Street, S. Pioneer Avenue, W.
Main Street, Brown Avenue and Case Street. The theme of this year’s parade is “It’s Better in a Union”.
This year’s Parade Marshal will be the 2023 Hall of Fame inductee Greg Seppanen, retired MEA. We encourage Local Unions to march and enter floats in the parade that reflect the theme. Please contact Tony Ghiringhelli at president@uprlf.org for details and to confirm your participation. Parade line up starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Negaunee Senior Center parking lot off of Tobin Street.

After the parade, there will be a picnic and rally from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Jim Thomas Pavilion and Jackson Mine Park located at 199 Tobin Street in Negaunee. We will be having a picnic lunch - your choice of a pasty or 2 hot dogs & chips, desert and pop, milk or water. Adult beverages will be sold along with additional pop and water. The rally will include live music, speeches from union officials and children’s activities.

In addition, The event is costly and labor intensive, so we are asking for all affiliates and participants
contribute in these ways:
1. Make a cash donation to the U.P. RLF to help defray the cost. Donations may be sent care of the
U.P. Regional Labor Federation, P.O. Box 129, Marquette, MI 49855.
2. Purchase food/beverage tickets in advance by contacting Tony Ghiringhelli at president@uprlf.org or Mariann Annala at secretary@uprlf.org.
3. Recruit volunteer workers for the day of the event. Please email a list of volunteers (names and
phone numbers) to coordinator@uprlf.org or contact Tony Ghiringhelli at president@uprlf.org.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated participation! We look forward to seeing our Brothers and Sisters in the Labor movement!
