PROTECT HIGH QUALITY CARE AT ST. JAMES HOSPITAL

Intermmountain Health

Montana Nurses Association (MNA) RNs and Teamsters Local 2 hospital staff at James Hospital are deeply concerned about Intermountain Health’s inability to retain our valuable healthcare providers and maintain high quality health care and the health of our community.

Registered Nurses, healthcare professionals, and staff of St. James Hospital are committed to their patients and our community. The best way for us to provide the safest and highest quality care is to focus on retaining medical health providers, addressing staff turnover and recognize the importance of our knowledge, experience, and dedication of the professionals who keep us healthy in the Butte and Silver Bow County communities.

St. James Hospital has also seen high turnover of MNA Nurses and Teamsters hospital staff which adds not only to the cost of healthcare in our community but also undermines our capacity to ensure timely, high quality healthcare.

We are coming together as community members, staff, and medical professionals in the Butte and Silver Bow Communities to ask St. James Hospital to work with us to protect our St James healthcare providers, decrease turnover, protect working conditions and patient outcomes, and give us the tools and resources to protect the health and wellbeing of our community.

We, the undersigned, as community members and employees at St. James Hospital, are deeply concerned about the threats to local community health in our community and strongly believe that Intermountain Health is not doing enough to retain important healthcare providers that provide vital services and care to our community and our families.

Healthcare provider contracts not being renewed, high staff turnover rates, the inability to support providers and staff caring for patients, and the lack of clear communication with healthcare workers and the broader community are leading to a crisis in primary care in Butte and the surrounding area.

In order to ensure that we have the necessary resources and staff to provide the required continuum of care we are asking Intermountain Health to take immediate action to address this growing crisis by IMMEDIATELY prioritizing the retention of our vital healthcare providers and make all efforts to protect and strengthen the contracts and working relationships with healthcare providers, nurses, and staff.
