It's Time to Pay Frontline Workers
Senate Majority Leader Jeremy Miller

It's clearer now than ever before how Minnesotans working on the frontlines across industries have been keeping our families and communities safe and healthy throughout the pandemic. The Minnesota House passed a bill (HF 2900) that would issue $1,500 checks to ALL frontline workers, but the Republican-held Senate has failed to move a similar bill.

It's clearer now than ever before how Minnesotans working on the frontlines across industries have been keeping our families and communities safe and healthy throughout the pandemic. While I'm happy to see the Minnesota House has passed a bill (HF2900) to provide tangible form of recognition for the risks and sacrifices all essential workers have made for our state, I'm disappointed the Minnesota Senate has not yet moved a similar bill.
The pandemic has shown us how much we all depend Minnesotans working in essential positions - from childcare providers and educators, to healthcare professionals, to grocery store workers, to janitors, to factory workers, and many, many more. The pandemic has also shown how little support our state offers them in return.
It's time to pass frontline worker pay for all of Minnesota's essential workers. This cannot wait.
