Labor unions have always been at the forefront of social and economic justice in Michigan and across the nation — and we’ve made great progress. We fight hard for better jobs, better wages, and better benefits. Now, that progress — and much more — is at stake with Trump and his billionaire bedfellows’ efforts to take workers backwards.

There is an unprecedented attack on workers all across the country. Trump and his Co-President Elon Musk are threatening to gut unions, dismantle our healthcare coverage, and make every day necessities impossible to afford. It has never been more important that our leaders in Michigan fight back and put workers first.

The road ahead is going to be tough, but if we work together, we can win. Here’s what we need to do:

• Make major investments in workforce development training so Michiganders have a path to good union jobs.

• Fund transit to build a more connected state.

• Fund local governments so they can provide the essential services for our communities to grow and thrive.

• Fund full-time employees at the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity to make sure workers and their rights are protected.

• Allow Governor Whitmer to sign pro-worker bills that already passed the legislature (Republican Speaker Matt Hall is currently holding them hostage).
