For over a year now UAW 42 members have been in negotiations with Volkswagen management for their first contract, but negotiations have stalled. In the meantime, UAW members still struggle to make ends meet, with 1 in 5 workers relying on Tenncare for health insurance. For over a decade, UAW members have helped make Volkswagen the local and global institution it is today, and it's time they've received their fair share. All that they are demanding is the same basic contract their fellow autoworkers make. When autoworkers standards are raised, more families are secure, tens of millions of dollars stay in the local economy, and all Chattanoogan's benefit.
