Labor Community Campaign

The 2015 Labor Community Campaign Runs from September 23-December 15.

A little background on our partnership — The AFL and CIO combined relief efforts in 1941 by serving on the Community Chests and Councils (CCC). That fall, the CIO originated the idea of the yearly federated employee fund drive to benefit many charities at once. This was the birth of the annual fall United Way fund-raising effort. Today, organized labor continues its partnership in serving the community with United Way.

The Milwaukee Area Labor Council combines the organizing and community power of approximately 52,000 dues-paying members of more than 140 Milwaukee-area locals and parent unions, along with thousands more through partnerships and alliances. There are many ways to participate in United Way’s community campaign:

  • Give an individual gift
  • Invite your company to participate in a workplace giving campaign
  • Sign up to volunteer with your workmates during Season of Caring at one of the United Way agencies
  • Encourage leaders to give a treasury gift and write a letter of endorsement
