Friend,
Union jobs are at stake if Congress raises airline taxes. Unions representing over 20,000 US Airways workers are fighting tax hike proposals that, if passed, could destroy hundreds of thousands of aviation industry jobs, including here in Arizona.
We need your help today to tell Congress no to new airline taxes.
Adding more airline taxes will result in fewer flights. Fewer flights mean fewer jobs. Who flies the planes, works inside aircraft cabins, maintains the jets, boards the flights, trains the pilots, dispatches each flight and issues tickets and staffs the reservation desks? Union workers do.
Add taxes. Lose union jobs.
This is not just a US Airways issue. Union workers at Southwest Airlines, Air Tran, United/Continental, American, Alaska and Frontier - who work at Arizona airports - are all opposed to new airline taxes. TWU, AFA, IAM, IBT, CWA, ALPA, USAPA, APA, APFA and NATCA (the air traffic controllers union) are affiliated and non-affiliated unions fighting the tax increase.
Please read the union coalition letter from US Airways workers to learn more about these dangerous tax proposals.
Now its time for all Arizona workers to tell Congress to save union jobs.
In Arizona, the aviation industry supports over 225,000 jobs representing 7.1% of Arizona workers and contributes 7% to our states Gross Domestic Product. Raising airline taxes puts many of these jobs at stake.
A Congressional Committee is working behind closed doors this week to draft a deficit reduction plan that could include an increase in airline taxes. Please log on to www.stopairtaxnow.com and use the links to tell Congress NO to new airlne taxes.
