Pulitzer Prize winner Hedrick Smith’s new book, Who Stole the American Dream? Can We Get It Back?, is an eye-opening account of how, over the past four decades, the American Dream has been dismantled and we became two Americas. Smith combines a history lesson with provocative reporting to reveal what happens when pivotal laws and policies are altered while the public isn’t looking, Congress ignores public opinion, moderate politicians are shoved to the sidelines and Wall Street wins politically by hiring more than 1,400 former government officials as lobbyists. Smith also offers a path back to the right track.
