Keep Rod Woodson Off The WASA Board!

Roderic Woodson -- an anti-union, anti-DC resident lobbyist -- has been nominated to the city’s Water and Sewer Authority (WASA) Board of Directors. Woodson's many big-business allegiances and clear conflict of interest make him the wrong person for the job.

Dear Councilmember,

I am writing to urge you to oppose the nomination of Roderic L. Woodson to the DC Water and Sewer Authority (WASA) Board of Directors. With Woodson’s many ties to builders and developers in the District, there is no way for him to act as an impartial board member in the interest of DC.

Woodson has made his stance against District workers clear, having lobbied against the “DC Accrued Sick and Safe Leave Act”, which requires employers to grant their workers paid sick leave, the “Living Wage Act”, which requires contractors on city projects to pay employees a living wage, and the “First Source Act,” which ensures that District residents are hired for city contract jobs. In fact, Woodson is a registered lobbyist for Miller & Long and a partner at Holland & Knight, both companies which are working with the Associated Builders and Contractors to sue the city to eliminate the local hiring legislation, a clear conflict of interest to his appointment to this position. With DC WASA currently embarking on several billion dollars-worth of infrastructure work, which will create many new job opportunities in the District, having an anti-union, anti-DC resident individual on the Board is not in the city’s interest.

I do not want someone who lobbies against District residents on the DC Water and Sewer Authority Board of Directors. I strongly urge you to oppose Roderic Woodson's nomination.
