Caravan for Cooperation and Negotiation
Since August 1, 2011, 1,300 union workers have been locked out of their jobs at American Crystal Sugar. The workers, members of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers' (BCTGM) Union, will soon sit down with company representatives for the first negotiating session since February.
Before that happens, workers are asking union members and supporters to join them on a Caravan for Cooperation and Negotiation.
The Caravan begins Thursday, May 31, at 10am at City Park in Drayton, North Dakota, will weave its way through the Red River Valley and end in a vigil near Crystal Sugar Headquarters in Moorhead on Wednesday, June 6th at 4pm.
You can walk, ride a hay wagon, bicycle, or ride a horse with workers along the way. The route is as follows:
Thursday, May 31: Drayton to Grafton
Friday, June 1: Grafton to Oslo
Saturday, June 2: Olso to East Grand Forks
Sunday, June 3: East Grand Forks to Crookston
Monday, June 4: Crookston to Belmont Park
Tuesday, June 5: Belmont Park to Hillsboro
Wednesday, June 6: Hillsboro to Moorhead
Please RSVP if you can come on any of these days. We'll let you know more details on activities for each individual day.
