Flu Season is Here. Workers Need Sick Time Now!

Flu season is here and pounding us harder than ever before.   Mayor Menino just declared a public health emergency in the City of Boston.  The latest reports show an increasingly severe flu season.  Since October 1, there have been 700 confirmed cases of flu among Boston residents – 10 times the number of cases confirmed for all of last flu season!  The Boston Public Health Commission states that infants, young children and seniors have been particularly hard hit.  The Mayor is urging people with flu symptoms to stay home from work and school to prevent the spread of the flu.  But how can workers stay home to care for themselves or their sick children if they do not have any sick time at work?

There are 1 million workers in Massachusetts without a single sick day trying to cope with flu season AND hold down their jobs AND pay the rent AND put groceries on the table?  Workers, their families and our economy urgently need the protection of the Earned Paid Sick Time Act!

We need to contact our state legislators in the Senate and House to recruit as many bill co-sponsors for the Earned Paid Sick Time bill as possible!  The more co-sponsors we recruit, the more support there will be to pass this bill this session.   Please use the form below to write to your state legislators to urge them to support this bill.
