No on Prop 32 -- Stop the Special Exemptions Act!

Working families in California are facing the biggest and most devastating attack on our rights in California history. Prop 32, set to appear on the November 2012 ballot, is a deceptive and destructive measure that threatens the jobs, wages and retirement of workers like us – while at the same time giving corporate special interests even more power and influence over our politics and government.

The proponents of the so-called “Stop Special Interest Money Now Act” claim the measure would actually lessen the big money influence in Sacramento – but the truth is, the ex-CEOs and ultra-wealthy anti-worker activists behind this measure secretly wrote in a whole mess of exemptions for themselves and their Wall Street cronies, as well as the Chamber of Commerce, insurance companies, Wall Street hedge funds, billionaires, SuperPACs… If they’re a wealthy corporate special interest, you bet they got an exemption in this deceptive measure. Their ultimate goal is to take away our ability to fight for a stronger middle class, under the phony guise of “stopping special interests”.

If Prop 32 passes and the 1% succeeds in silencing our voice, understand that it’s just the beginning. Once they’ve got absolute power in Sacramento, they’ll immediately go after all the things we value -- like workplace health and safety rules, fair wages, overtime, affordable health care, retirement security… everything we've fought for.
